Floyd was killed in a small plane crash piloted by his son, David Nance, who also died in the crash, on a return trip from Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elsie. His surviving children are; Floyd, Jr, Marian, Rosalie, and Linda.
He was preceded by 2 infant sons.
He was a tug Captain for J. S. Gissell Towing Co.
