In 1932, Lester Horner contracted mastoiditis, which developed into a brain abcess. He died at Monmouth Memorial Hospital in Long Branch, New Jersey, on June 25, 1932.
Lester Horner was buried at Old First Methodist Church in West Long Branch, New Jersey, on June 28, 1932. The remains of his uncle, Wesley Horner, lie in the same plot.
