Obituary:
"Clara Elsie Fergusson, the second child of Robert Jeff Fergusson and Ida Rose Anna Grisham Fergusson, was born April 6, 1906, at Blue Ridge in Hamilton County, TX.

Elsie attended school at Blue Ridge, Gentry's Mill, Sunshine, Tonkawa, and Hamilton High School. When illness prevented further school attendance, Elsie completed a millinery course from Woman's Institute of Domestic Arts and Sciences. For the remainder of her sighted life, she used her sewing skill for her family and friends.

On December 15, 1929, Elsie became the bride of Robert Verne Crain. Their wedding was the first large wedding held in the church which became the focus of their lives.

Elsie was a member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church --the church of which her maternal grandparents, James Lemuel Grisham. Sr. and Margaret Amanda Jones Grisham, were charter members in 1880.

For many years she taught a Sunday School class in this church and was church clerk.

From 1954 to 1974, Verne and Elsie operated Crain's Shoe Repair in Hamilton. Elsie followed the family tradition established by her great, great, great grandfather, William Fergusson of Richmond County, VA, who was a tailor as he served his country during the American Revolution. Elsie did commercial sewing and speedweaving.

After a lengthy illness Elsie died Monday, June 11, 1990, in Goodall-Witcher Hospital in Clifton, Bosque County, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, William Claude Fergusson, and an infant sister.

Survivors include a daughter, Elreeta Crain Weathers; a son, Ray Rowland Weathers; a granddaughter, D'Ann Elizabeth Weathers; a sister-in-law, Ima Riley Fergusson; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
