Howard V. Barker, 96, of Parkersburg, WV, died February 10, 2006 at his residence. He was born September 8, 1909 in Fink, WV, a son of the late Ammi V. and Saida Bowser Barker.

He delivered newspapers for the Parkersburg News around 1925; worked for Roy L. Smith Grocers for nine years; and retired in 1982 (with 40 years of service) from Guthrie-Morris-Campbell, the building now occupied by the Blennerhassett Museum. He also attended Sunrise Church of Christ.

He is survived by one daughter, Mary L Wilson and husband Bill of Washington, WV; two sons, Howard A. "Bud" Barker and wife Dottie, Charles E. Barker and wife Doris both of Parkersburg; step-son, Robert "Bob" Barker and wife Peggy all of Parkersburg; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, who he was always interested in their many activities.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Estelle Givens Barker; sister Lois Fisher; and two brothers Clayton and Ammi Barker.

Services will be Monday 1:00 pm at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Evangelist Keith Kress officiating.

Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
