1st Lt. Cordus H. Thornton killed in Korea, shot in the head by infamous North Korean Major known only as "The Tiger" for his brutality and love of killing. Thornton's body, hastily buried by his fellow POWs during the 9 day Tiger Death March, has never been found. He left behind his wife the former Mabel Clara Burnside and one daughter.
