HAMPTON -- Charles O. Thompson Jr., 51, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000. A native of Smithfield, he had been a longtime Peninsula resident. He retired as an Engineer from Bell Atlantic, after 27 years of service. He was currently the owner of Buyer's Choice Auto and Truck Sales. Survivors include his wife, Mary Thompson; his daughter, Kim Taylor and her husband, Donnie, of Carrollton; his son, Tony Thompson of Hampton; his mother and stepfather, Ruth and Harry Gandee of Carrollton; sister, Ruth M. Smith and her husband, Bill, of Smithfield; granddaughter, Cassidy Taylor; stepson, Ronnie Mesic of Newport News; mother-in-law, Lee Mister of Poquoson and two nephews Billy and Curtis Hampton of Smithfield. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 tonight, Dec. 16 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Luke's Cemetery, Smithfield.
