SMITHFIELD – James Earl Manning Jr., 20, died Sunday June 17, in Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News. A native of Hampton, Mr. Manning attended Smithfield High School. He was a member of Future Farmers of America, Future Business Leaders of America and Jobs for Virginia Graduates. Survivors include his parents, James and Ruth Peck Manning Sr., and paternal grandfather, James F. Manning Jr., all of Smithfield; and maternal grandparents, Paul and Julianne Peck Sr. of Newport News. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Colonial Funeral Home by the Rev. George Farmer. Burial will be in St. Luke's Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in the residence on Route 620.
