Mrs. Thrift was born in Zuni, Va., and was a resident of Hampton for more than 40 years.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church, Hampton, where she sang in the church choir.
Survivors include her husband, Charles William Thrift; a son, Charles William Thrift Jr. and his wife, Sherry, of Boynton Beach, Fla.; a sister, Vera S. Edwards of Chuckatuck; a brother, Harold R. Sadler of Southern Pines, N.C.; granddaughter, Dawn Renee Thrift Dungan; and three great-grandchildren, James, Crystal and Michael.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke's Memorial Park, Smithfield, with the Rev. G. Thornton Hall officiating.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, and suggests memorial donations may be made to Central Baptist Church, 3100 Butternut Drive, Hampton, VA.
