Frank Karn Thrift, Sr., 82, died Sunday, May 31, in a Newport News hospital after a long illness. A native of Norfolk, he had lived near Smithfield 25 years. Surviving are two sons, Charles William Thrift of Hampton and Frank K. Thrift Jr. of Portsmouth, six grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at the Jones Funeral Home at Smithfield, Wednesday, June 3rd, at 3 P. M. by the Rev. Otis L. Gilliam, retired Methodist minister. Burial was in St. Luke's Memorial Cemetery.
