Belva Ann Duck Snow of Smithfield, formerly of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, after a five-month battle with cancer. Born Oct. 8, 1941 in Smithfield to the late Clarence H. and Belva Duck, she grew up in Smithfield and was a graduate of the Smithfield High School Class of 1960. "Bell," as she was nicknamed in later years, was employed by Newport News Shipbuilding and Tenneco until 1979, when she chose to follow her dream of self-employment. She and her husband, Will, owned and operated the Bouy Nine Restaurant until his death in 2004. She retired in Smithfield in 2005. In addition to her husband, Wilbur G. Snow, and her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence H. Duck Jr. and Joseph T. Duck. She is survived by a brother, Mike Duck, Smithfield; two sisters, Becky Wiggins, Newport News, and Nancy Duck, Portsmouth; and several nieces and nephews. She would also like to thank a special friend, Debbie Dahlborg. She was cremated, and her, along with her husband's ashes were joined together and scattered privately in the ocean along the Outer Banks. Arrangements are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield.
