Mrs. Owen was born in Memphis. She was a 1961 graduate of Whitehaven High School and attended college at UT Knoxville. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and was the National Officer in the Son’s and Daughter’s of Pearl Harbor Survivors. Her hobbies included working in her yard, and also working with ceramics.
Diana's family was the second family to settle in Memphis. She lost her father, William Gilbert Harris, Sr. at a young age. He was an officer in the Army Air Corps serving in France when his plane was shot down. Her mother, Elsie Hudson, was the first female letter carrier in the City of Memphis. She was a member of Whitehaven United Methodist Church until its closing, then became a member of CrossRoads United Methodist Church in Collierville.
Diana was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, William Gilbert Harris, Jr. She leaves her husband of 55 years, Charles Owen; her daughter, Joanna Young (Patrick) of Germantown; two grandchildren, Lauren and Michael Young; and one niece, Erin Harris of FL. Visitation will be on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., with service immediately following at Forest Hill Funeral Home, Midtown.
Burial will be in Edmondson Cemetery in Southaven, MS.
