Wife: Iona Mae "Mamie" Sewell

Married: 21 Dec 1898 in Hamilton Co., TX

Parents: James Lemuel "Jim" Grisham and Margaret Amanda Jones

William Richard Grisham, a prominently known and worthy influential citizen of the county, and a successful farmer and stockman of the Blue Ridge section, passed away in the night of March 13. Mr. Grisham had been in failing health for some time and surgical aid was sought for him, but proved unavailing though a skilled specialist. Dr. William Crosswalte, of Waco, performed the operation.

Will Grisham, as he was known to his hosts of friends, was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, August 29, 1873, a son of the late J. L. Grisham and Mrs. Margaret Grisham, whose death occurred only a few months ago. Mr. and Mrs. Grisham moved to Fannin County, Texas, when W. R. Grisham was five years of age, and a little later they came on to Hamilton County and settled on Blue Ridge, where they reared their family. William Richard Grisham married Miss Iona May Sewell on December 21, 1898, and they were deeply devoted to each other and lived in happy companionship until her death just four months before he joined her in the eternal reunion in the Home Above.

Mr. and Mrs. Grisham were the parents of six children, five of whom survive. They are Mrs. Aubra Cole, Idalou, Texas; Jim C. Grisham, Plainview, Texas; Herbert Grisham, Hamilton, Texas; Mrs. W. L. Beard, Lubbock, Texas; and Miss Alice Bernice Grisham, of the parental home. One child died in infancy. Other survivors are seven grandchildren, four brothers and two [sic] sisters. They are J. L. Grisham, Quanah, Texas; C. E. Grisham. J. A. Grisham, and C. V. Grisham, Hamilton; Mrs. R. J. Fergusson and Mrs A. M. Lassetter.

All Mr. Grisham's family were with him in his last hours except his daughter, Mrs. Beard, of Lubbock.

Mr. Grisham entered into citizenship in the Kingdom of Christ when quite a young man and united with the Missionary Baptist body of Christians at Blue Ridge, where he was a valued member and active worker up until his death.

A memorial service that paid fitting honors to William Richard Grisham was held at First Baptist Church in Hamilton on Monday afternoon, March 15, at 2:00 o'clock, with Rev. Judson Prince, Rev. John D. West, and Rev. R. H. Gibson officiating in the impressive services. Burial was made in the new I.O.O.F. cemetery in Hamilton, where the beloved wife of Mr. Grisham was laid to rest.

The hearts of all are touched with grief because of the desolated world in which the children of Mr. and Mrs. Grisham find themselves now that both Father and Mother are gone and thoughts of deepest sympathy are given to the brothers and sisters and other loved ones. God, Who "tempers the wind in the shorn lamb" will heal their broken hearts and hold their lives in His hand.
