Joe was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia the son of John and Armenia "Minnie" (Cavallo) Wash. His family moved to Flint, MI when Joe was in grade school. Joe was the salutatorian of his graduating class at St. Agnes High School. Joe went into the seminary for a short while and then returned home. He then attended X-Ray School at St. Joseph Hospital (Now Genesys Health Systems) in Flint, where he graduated and eventually become an instructor. Joe served in a M.A.S.H unit in Viet Nam for 2 years. Joe retired from Genesys Health System on May 1, 2007 at which time he was the employee with the greatest amount of senority. Joe was also very proud of his Italian heritage, his family name was originally Guarascio. He lived in Grand Blanc, MI with his long time companion Les Myers. Joe was a dear friend, brother, and uncle. Joe will be greatly missed. He is is survived by his companion of 40 years; Les Myers, brothers; Patsy and wife Clara; Albert and wife Shirley, sister Catherine Wash Charland and husband Ray, brother-law John Scherba; many, many nieces and nephews he was preceded in death by his sister Louise Wash Scherba and his parents John and Armenia "Minnie".
