Oscar Melvin Rose, a resident of Montrose since 1882 and credited with setting the first apple orchard in the Uncompahgre valley, passed awat at Montrose Monday morning. Mr. Rose was one of the first settlers in Montrose, and set out an apple orchard there in 1883. He had been prominently identified with the development of the Uncompahgre valley during his many years residence there.
