Ralph Lionel McCord Jr., 85, of Springfield, died Friday, April 4, 2008, at Genesys Health Park, Grand Blanc, Mich. Funeral services April 8, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home with Robert Green officiating. Burial in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Ralph was born April 4, 1923, in Chatham, the son of Ralph L. Sr. and Verna (Black) McCord. He had resided in the Springfield area his entire life. He married Rose Marie Ray June 17, 1972; and she preceded him in death July 26, 2007.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired from the Sangamon County Road Commission and had also worked for Truman L. Flatt Construction Co. for many years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and also was a member of the Greater Springfield Bowling Association and Hall of Fame.
Surviving are two sons; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Fern Dunham.
