Carlo Salvador Parrino, 85, beloved husband of 62 years of Violet Santostefano Parrino, formerly of Chicago Heights, Ill., died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2008, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. Carlo was born July 5, 1922, in Cheneyville. He was a World War II veteran who served as a corpsman/pharmacist's mate in the U.S. Navy and participated in the following invasions: Sicily, Tulagi, Guadalcanal, Samoa, Tarawa, Marshall Islands, Guam, Leyte and Lingayen (Luzon). He was a retired Army reservist and EEG instructor from LSU Medical School. He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Doris Parrino, of Baton Rouge; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Wallace Murry, of Metairie, and Carol and Carroll "Eddie" Schmidt, of Birmingham, Ala.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Joe Parrino, of Cheneyville, Tony and Crystal Parrino, of Dry Prong, and Nick and Janice Parrino, of Denham Springs; and three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Pat and Van Stevens, Lucille and Thomas Vidrine, and Marie Collinson, all of Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Josephine Parrino, who were of Cheneyville; brothers, Peter, Sam, Morris and Nicholas Jr.; and sisters, Mary, Josie and Bessie. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Wednesday, June 4, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m., led by the Altar and Ushers societies of St. Louis King of France Catholic Church. Visitation will resume at St. Louis King of France Church on Thursday, June 5, from 9 a.m. until funeral service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Jack Nutter. Interment in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Services, 3772 North Blvd., Suite B, Baton Rouge, LA 70806 or a charity of choice
