ZANESVILLE - Evelyn E. Rittberger, 90, of Zanesville, died at 10:43 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, at her residence, after a sudden illness.
She was born Sept. 28, 1916, in Zanesville, the daughter of the late Orville and Elizabeth Frick Winters. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and Ruth Guild. Taking care of her children and grandchildren gave her great enjoyment. She also enjoyed playing cards and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Evelyn looked forward to every Friday night when the children and grandchildren would come to visit and play cards.
Surviving Evelyn are her children, sons C. Robert "Bob" (Marilyn) Rittberger Sr. of Solon, Ronald E. (Sandy) Rittberger and James H. (Rosie) Rittberger of Zanesville; daughters, Jo Ann Jones and Sherri McElfresh of Zanesville; grandchildren, Douglas R. Jones of Akron, C. Robert (Paige) Rittberger Jr. of New York, Christopher Rittberger of Chicago, Ill., and R. Blair (Troy) Rittberger, Sally (Dusty) Darst, Erica L. McElfresh and Zackary Mc Elfresh of Zanesville; stepgrandchildren, Wendi (Brian) Gadd and Shawn Edwards of Zanesville; great-grandchildren, Jason (Carrie) Rittberger, Brittany Rittberger, Jordan Rittberger, Ryan Rittberger and Aaron Rittberger; step great-grandchildren, Joey and Hayden Gadd; a sister, Dorothy Tunis of Zanesville; and a brother, Glenn (Kitty) Winters of Zanesville; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Harry Rittberger, who died April 15, 2003; a grandson, Michael L. Jones; a sister and brother-in-law; Loretta and Bill Edwards; and a brother-in-law, James Tunis.
Calling hours will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, at Bryan & Snider Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave., where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, with the Rev. Daniel Sparling officiating. Committal will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
