William Gordon Taylor, 79, of Mechanicsville, the greatest father in the entire world, passed away after a very brief battle with cancer on Tuesday, June 10, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Jones Taylor. He is survived by his son, Craig M. Taylor; daughters, Cynthia T. Green, Susan Gordon VanZile and Deborah T. Clements; loving sister-in-law, Evelyn Taylor; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; and nieces and nephews. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served two years during the Korean War. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and friends. He was also a member of the Glen Allen Masonic Lodge. The family will receive friends Thursday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee Davis Rd., where services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flwoers, memorial contributions may be made Bethel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 26, Hanover, Va. 23069 or the American Cancer Society, 4246 Park Place, Glen Allen, Va. 23060.
