Joseph and Irene Graves Holley, both natives of New York, were married in Michigan in 1856. They lived in Illinois, then came to Kansas by covered wagon about 1868. They are listed among the state's earliest settlers. More can be found in "Cutler's History of Kansas."

Her grandfathers Randall Graves and Lamberton Cooper and his grandfathers Joseph Holley, John Tinker and great-grandfather Zera Beebe, are all recognized as DAR Revolutionary War patriots.
