Aged Resident of Maryville Died Last Evening - Funeral To Be Held Tomorrow.
Noah J. Overmier, 81 years old, died at his home on East Fourth street at 7:45 o'clock last evening. He had been in poor health for nine years and had been confined to his bed for the past year.
The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the residence, with Rev. R. C. Holliday in charge. Burial will take place in Miriam cemetery. The I.O.O.F. lodge of this city will have charge of the services at the grave.
Mr. Overmier was born in Sandusky, O., and came to Savannah, Mo.in 1870. He was section foreman and helped to complete the Burlington railroad from Kansas City to Council Bluffs. He had been with the Burlington road for thirty-five years.
He lived on a farm near Maryville for three years and had resided in Maryville for twenty-five years. He served three years and nine months in the Civil War in the 14th Ohio Co. D. He was on Sherman's march to the sea.
He was married September 17, 1865, in Ohio to Terriasa Eversole. He is survived by two children, Jacob Calvin Overmier of Essex, Ia.; Lawrence Overmier of Omaha. One sister, Mrs. Sarah Triquit of Monroe, Mich., also survives.
