O.K. Hackley, Jr., 69, of Atlanta, Georgia, died Tuesday May 13 at his residence. Born in Coral Gables, Florida, he was the son of the late Ormsby King Hackley, Sr. and Katherine Bailey Hackley. He graduated in 1957 from Miami Senior High School, Miami, Florida and graduated in 1963 with a BSME degree from the University of Kentucky and a JD from the Woodrow Wilson College of Law in Atlanta, Georgia in 1980. At Kentucky, he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, and in 1982 was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel. In 1963 joined the Army Reserve and honorable discharged in 1969. In 1963 worked for Otis Elevator Company in Atlanta, Georgia until 1970 and thereafter was self-employed. At the time of death he was retired but was supporting his son in his sport horse endeavors. Mr. Hackley was a member of the Versailles First Presbyterian Church in Versailles. He is survived by his son, O. King Hackley, III, and his soulmate Rita Charlane Hackley. Graveside services will be 11 am Monday May 19 at the Versailles Cemetery by Dr. Melissa Sevier. Casketbearers are Ben Crain, Josh Crain, William Conkwright, John Provine, John R. Morris, Tom Wells and honorary pall bearers are his many other friends and relatives. Visitation is 4-7 pm Sunday at Clark Funeral Home-Rose Hill. Memorials are suggested to the Versailles First Presbyterian Church Building Fund or to your own church or charity in honor of a friend or relative that was a past or present member of the United States Military Forces, who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our democratic, intellectual, and religious freedoms. Clark Funeral Home-Rose Hill is in charge of arrangements.
