He was not on the 1880 census with his parents. On the 1900 census, he age was 15, so probably born around 1884, not 1879. On the 1910 census, he was 28, which would mean about 1882. On the 1930 census, he was 37, which would mean about 1883. Haven't found him on the 1940 census yet. So 1882-1884 is more likely his birth year. Laurene

update - in the 1940 census, he is listed with his Mother, Sudie, and his brother, Edward. They all said they were living at the same place in 1935. Laurene
