Lowell L. Alderson, 94, of Lubbock, died Sunday at his home. Graveside services will be Thursday, May 29, 2008, at 3 p.m. in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors. His family will gather to receive friends on Wednesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 3 p.m. June 5, 2008, in the First Baptist Church of Smyer with Rev. Gene Culpepper and Rev. E. G. Lambert officiating.

Mr. Alderson was born in Capitan, N.M., to Jeff James and Dottie England Alderson. He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Smyer. He had been in the Lubbock area since 1940, Lowell married Doris Cranfill Dec. 29, 1950, in Lubbock, He served on the Smyer School board and the boards of four different cotton gins, to includee the Citizens Co-op Gin, prior to becoming a farmer Lowell had worked for El Paso Natural gas for six years.

He has left to survive his wife, Doris; daughter, Sharon Rice; brother, Harold Alderson of Tomball; his sister, Pauline Cummins of Lubbock; four granddaughters, 12 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandson

Lowell was preceded in death by a son, James David Alderson, in 1998 and also by five brothers and one sister.
