Bessie is the daughter of Charles C. and Alice G. Leary Hathaway.
Bessie married Earl Boyer in Duval Co., FL., on April 19, 1928. The children: Charles, Earl Lee, Donnie, Richard, William and Betty (Lenny-Buttrum).

Bessie Lee Boyer, 94, of Oceanside, Calif., died April 24, 2003. Cremation rites will be accorded. Burial will be in Illini Cemetery, Warrensburg, alongside her husband and daughter. Arrangements are by El Camino/Cypress View Chapel and Mausoleum, San Diego, Calif.
Mrs. Boyer was born Sept. 24, 1908, in Daytona, Fla., and moved to Illinois at age 19 to marry her husband, Earl Bessie Boyer Boyer. After raising six children and two stepchildren on a farm near Warrensburg and being widowed in 1965, she worked at several appliance manufacturing plants in the area. She was a very hard worker and an excellent country-style cook. Later she lived in Virginia and several cities in San Diego county with her sons. She lost her only daughter in 1980.
Surviving are her sons, Charles L. Boyer and Richard W. Boyer, both of Longboat Key, Fla.; Earl L. Boyer of St. George, Utah; William J. Boyer of Oceanside; Donnie D. Boyer of Decatur. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Jane Buttrum.
