Doug Myers passed away June 4, 2023 after a long and courageous battle with Cancer. He received compassionate care from the doctors and nurses at Windsor Regional Hospital. Longtime friends David Gibson and Thomas Zhang were with Doug in his final years. They were able to provide Doug with a sense of peace. Doug's friends, along with the doctors and nurses were able to help peacefully usher him into the world to come . Doug Myers was born to Nelson Joseph Myers and Alda Martin Myers in Windsor (Riverside) Ontario. He had a happy childhood living in a cozy home on Lauzon Road with his brother Robert and sister Phyllis. Doug did well in school and looked forward to coming home to his mom's home cooked meals. While watching his mother prepare supper Doug enjoyed watching his mom always save a little raw meatball which she tossed to the family dog. Doug had planned on going into the ministry when he was young and even travelled to St. Catharines to look into Bible school. However, by the time he graduated from high school he decided to pursue a radio career. Armed with tapes and resumes, he travelled throughout Southern Ontario looking for his first station. He landed his first job at CJCS in Stratford. After that he worked in Woodstock and eventually CHYM in Kitchener, where he spent the rest of his radio career, more than 20 happy years. After his radio career Doug took great pleasure in taking care of people as a Personal Support Worker in Amherstburg, Windsor, Leamington and Essex County.
Doug was pre-deceased by his parents Nelson Joseph Myers and Alda Martin Myers. He leaves behind his brother Robert and sister in-law of Leamington, Ontario and many friends and co-workers.
He was a very good friend.
