LEON E. BARRETT

Lifelong Montrose resident Leon Ernest Barrett died of natural causes
Sunday in the Valley Manor Care Center. He was 73.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Cemetery with
the Rev. Lloyd McMillan officiating.

Mr. Barrett was a farmer and a truck driver.

He was born February 18, 1921 to Ernest and Mildred Hart Barrett in
Montrose, where he spent his childhood. He graduated from Olathe
High School.
He married Esther Hawkins on November 14, 1973 in Cedaredge.
She survives.
Mr. Barrett belonged to the National Guard and was a life member of
the Montrose Elks Lodge No. 1053. He enjoyed his farm, fishing and
hunting.

Other survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Kay Barrett
of Montrose; two daughters, Judy Haskell of Farmington, N.M., and
Shirley Sutton of York, Pa.; two step-daughters, Vernie WIlkerson of
Crawford and Carol Kindernecht of Cedaredge; two brothers, Robert
of Grand Junction and Kenneth of Tucson, Ariz.; nine grandchildren and
ten great-grandchildren.
Crippin Funeral Home in Montrose is in charge of arrangments.
