Leola married the love of her life, Leo Guyer Jr., on Dec. 10, 1944.
They were inseparable for their 39 years until Leo's death on Sept. 26, 1973. Her family was her life. She was a devoted farmwife and homemaker, making all who gathered at their home happy with her wonderful cooking and baking. She was active in her church and community, being involved with 4-H, first as a member, then as a leader.
She and Leo built and opened Hickory Holler Campground on their farm in 1969. This facility has continued to grow and expand and now is the home of CrossTies Ministries. Leola always supported Leo's love of singing bass in Gospel music, which led to the Guyer Family Gospel Quartet's 15 years of traveling and also hosting the barn sings, which continues to this day.
She is survived by her four children, Charles Delane and Elle Guyer of West York, Yvonne Ann and Doug Newlin of Hutsonville, Joan Alyce and Glenn Briggs of Robinson, and Tony Marlin and Janna Guyer of West York; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren. She also is leaving a sister-in-law, Lona V. Guyer; several nieces and nephews; and many, many friends she made at the campground.
She also was preceded in death besides her husband and parents; her brother, Lloyd Gurley; and great-grandson, Alex Nading.
