George Orestus Guyer, son of William and Louisa Woods Guyer was born in Hutsonville Township, Oct. 22, 1874 spending his entire life at the old Guyer homestead where his father and grandfather spent their lives.

He departed this life Oct. 31, 1945 age 71 years, 9 days. He united with the Baptist Church west of Hutsonville while young in life, and from that time on he kept the faith.

He was united in marriage to Emma Kinney Nov. 2, 1896 in Clark Co, IL, who passed away Feb. 7, 1931.

To this union was born five children, Mrs. Lelia Imogen Green of West Union, IL, Mrs. Mabel L. Fowler of West York, IL, Mrs. Mae F. Hill of Westfield, IL, Mrs. Maude A. Crocker of Marshall, IL, and Ray Franklin Guyer of West Union, IL.

Those preceeding him in death were his wife, his father, mother, two sisters Laticia and Anna, two brothers, Ira and Clifford, one daughter-in-law and three grandchildren.

Dec. 24, 1938 he was united in marriage to Lucinda Reynolds.

Those surviving him are his wife and children, one daughter-in-law, four son-in-law, eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. One grandson, George Oneal Guyer at the age of 9 years, after the death of his mother, came to his grandfathers to make his home and remained there until after his marriage, and since that time has lived close
by. Two sisters Mrs. Mattie Cannady of West Union, IL, and Mrs. Maggie Ormiston of Sullivan, IN, five step children, Mrs. Nina Garrison, of Tucson, AR, Mrs. Nola Morely, Mrs. Naomi Fox, Cecil and Cebron Reynolds all of Detroit, MI, with a host of relatives and friends also survive.

He was a kind, loving husband, father and grandfather, a good citizen well liked by all who knew him, and will be sadly missed by all.

Funeral services were conducted at the Friends Church by Rev. Lee Guyer, with interment in the Guyer Cemetery.
