Jerseyville- Walter "Red" Sherman, 79, died at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, 1990, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
Sherman retired from Olin Corp. of East Alton and the Alton Eagles Lodge. He was a member of Piasa Masonic Lodge.
Born in Jersey County, he was the son of the late William and Mary (Porter) Sherman.
His wife, the former Marcella Louise Henrion, died October 22, 1988.
Surviving are a son, Walter Louis Sherman of Jerseyville; a granddaughter; and a sister, Thelma Bonds of Riverside, California.
Two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. Friday until service time at 11 a.m. at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. The Rev. Jim Rice will officiate.
Burial is in Upper Alton Cemetery.
