Clarence Conrad Mingle


SFC (Ret.) Clarence Conrad Mingle, 72, of Valdese, N.C. died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Asheville, N.C. following a period of declining health.

Mr. Mingle was born on Nov. 28, 1935 in Easton, Penn., to the late John and Edna Conrad Mingle.

He was a U.S. Army veteran where he retired after 22 years serving our country in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Following his military career, he worked at Sears for more than 20 years and the Town of Valdese.

Surviving is his son, SGM Michael James Mingle and his wife, Nam Suk, of Fort Stewart, Ga.; his daughter, Angela Christine Bolinger and her husband, 1SG Jeromy Bolinger, of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; stepson, Brent Powell of Tucson, Ariz.; his grandchildren, Christine Jones, Meghan Jones, Erin Bolinger, Jessica Travison and B.J. Powell; his brothers, James P. Mingle and his wife, Nancy, of Easton, Penn. and Morris Mingle and his wife, Mary, of Cortland, N.Y.; and a sister-in-law, Jackie Birmingham.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Zimmerman Mingle; his brother, Sterling Haraveth; and his stepson, Michael Travison. F

uneral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Abee's Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Gregory Burnette officiating.

Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery with full military honors by the U.S. Army.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sudnay at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese, where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301 Cincinnati, Ohio 45250. Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese is serving the family.
