Wesley H. Parker, of 702 Hill Avenue, Erwin, TN, died on Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at the V.A. Mountain Home Veterans Hospital of overwhelming and sudden pneumonia.

He was a former high school all-state guard in football, fought in France during WWII and served his country again in the Korean conflict. After a brief employment with the Clinchfield RR, Mr. Parker worked until his retirement with Sperry/Raytheon as a machine shop foreman, manufacturing products for our military defense.

Wes Parker was always an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman and held records for his fly fishing skills. He was a member of Centenary Methodist Church in Erwin, and the local VFW and Moose Lodges.

Wesley leaves behind: One son, Ronald J. Parker, Virginia Beach, VA; Two grandchildren, Scott Parker and Megan Parker, Denver, CO; Sister, Jacqueline Miller, Jonesborough, TN.

The family will receive friends at Valley Funeral Home on Friday, April 25, 2008, from 6-8 p.m.

Graveside services will be held at Roselawn Memory Gardens on Saturday, April 26, 2008, at 10 a.m. Friends of the family are invited to attend and meet at the cemetery by 9:50 Saturday morning.

In Lieu of Flowers, the family request that donations be made to either Centenary United Methodist Church General Fund, 203 N. Elm Avenue, Erwin, TN, 37650; or the Gideon Memorial Bible Fund, P.O. Box 398, Erwin, TN 37650.
