Lawrence C. DeGennaro born on November 18, 1953, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, the son of Lawrence and Helen (Domrad) DeGennaro. He married Patricia Anderson on September 26, 1976. They were married for 47 years.
Larry was a 1971 graduate of Lawrence County Vo-Tech and attended Penn State University. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Holy Spirit Parish where he taught CCD classes and was also employed. Larry served the teens as Middle School/High School Faith Formation Coordinator. He played a key role in getting the Youth Advisory Council up and running, as well as the Teen Spirit bulletin. He headed the Christmas Parade Float Committee in 2023 and drove the float in the parade! Larry was a friend full of laughter, always willing to help, and truly a champion for Parish Youth. In addition to his love for his church, he enjoyed assembling model trains.
Lawrence C. "Larry" DeGennaro, age 70, of New Castle, passed away suddenly the morning of January 26, 2024, at UPMC Jameson Hospital in New Castle.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Lawrence T. (Erica) DeGennaro of Jim Thorpe, PA; one brother, Greg DeGennaro of Okeechobee, Florida; three sisters, Laura Manfield of Slippery Rock, Sandra Cooper of New Castle, and Joyce Maravich of Scott Township, PA; and two grandchildren, Ethan and Llena DeGennaro.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, February 1, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 124 N. Beaver Street, New Castle, with Father Aaron Kriss officiating.
Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery.
