U.S. Veteran, Eddie Gene Decker of Reed City, Michigan, entered eternal life Sunday, July 22, 2007 at Spectrum Butterworth Hospital, Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was 74 years old.

Eddie was born November 29, 1932 in Greenville, Michigan. He was a 1951 graduate of Reed City High School. He was a member of the 1950 State Football Championship team. He served with the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Korean War and was a member of VFW Post 2964 of Reed City. He was a member of the Reed City Church of the Nazerene, Lou B. Winsor Lodge #363 F&AM of Reed City and the Saladin Shrine. He enjoyed hunting and his family and was known as "Papa II" to his great grandchildren.

Eddie was active in the community. He served with the Reed City Fire Department for over 30 years. He was employed with Gardner-Denver Corp. in Reed City for over 30 years, and then with Reed City Powerline Supply for another 20 years, retiring in 1982.

Eddie was married September 29, 1955 to Ruby Hannon who entered eternal life on January 3, 2006.

Eddie is survived by his son James (Kelly) and daughter Sally (Ross) Momany both of Reed City; his grandchildren Heidie (Ian) Thomas, Ross Momany, Carrie (Justin) Erbes, Rebecca (Jon) Owen and Matthew Decker and fiance Casey Siegert). His great grandchildren Cooper & Carson Thomas and Jonathan Owen. His sister Donna Birdseye of Reed City. Brother in law James (Mary) Hannon of Gaylord and sisters in law Cleo Esch & Lenora Boyer both of Reed City and Alice (Robert) Bull of Kalkaska and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Tuesday, July 24, 2007, from 2-4 and 6-9 PM. at the Pruitt-Livingston Funeral Home, Reed City, Michigan.

Funeral services: Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Reed City Church of the Nazerene with Rev. Chris DeMott officiating with burial at Woodland Cemetery, Reed City.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Reed City Church of the Nazerene.
