Doris S. (Dot) Shumate, the widow of Jesse D. Shumate Sr. passed away Tuesday April 20, 1999. She is survived by two daughters, June S., and her husband Leon Baldwin, Sandston, and Evelyn S. and her husband Roger Hatcher of Cumberland; her son Jesse D. Jr. and his wife Kathie Shumate of Richmond; a sister, Mary S. Wright of Ormond Beach, Fla.; a brother, Allen Shiver of Atlanta, Ga.; four grandsons Paul and Will Hatcher, Ryan and Eric Shumate; two granddaughters, Beth B. and her husband Matt Pastore, and Laura Hatcher. Mrs. Shumate was a member of Sandston Presbyterian Church, Sandston Women's Club and was an avid bridge player and golfer Friends may call at the Laburnum Chapel Woody Funeral Home, 2110 E. Laburnum Ave. on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Sandston Presbyterian Church with burial in Washington Memorial Park. Memorial gifts may be made to the E. Henrico Volunteer Rescue Squad, or Sandston Presbyterian Church.
