Nellie was born to James and Clara (Wettengel) Anders in Quincy, Illinois. She first married Cletis Huffman in 1933, and he preceeded her in death. She then married Charles "Ted" Stoneking on September 3, 1949. He died December 24, 1984. Her daughter Betty (Mrs. Ralph Agre) of Good Hope, Illinois, and her step-daughter, Lillian Acord of Springdale, Arkansas survived her. Nellie accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior in 1983, and had a great burden for the rest of her family. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Macomb, Illinois, and Pastor Don Oftedahl officiated at her funeral, which was held at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home in Macomb.
Nellie loved the children who came to church on the Sunday School bus, and gave her large collection of teddy bears to them.
