J.T. "Pete" Locklear, age 78 of Laurinburg, NC passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024.

He was born September 20, 1945 in Scotland County, son of the late James Ernest Locklear and the late Aretha McGirt Locklear. Pete as he was lovingly known worked for many years as a truck driver for Harvey Edge Farms until retiring. He loved driving 18 wheelers and taking his dogs, Tiny and Susie for rides. Pete enjoyed working on lawn mowers and drinking coffee at the Kangaroo. A loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who will truly be missed.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his adored wife, Debra Louise Lovell Locklear; son, Brian Locklear; brothers, James Locklear, Jimmy Locklear, Donnie Locklear; sisters, Brenda Locklear, Priscilla Driggers; and grandchildren, Kaitlyn Redbrook and Brent Locklear.

Pete is survived by his sons, J.T. "Bud" Locklear, Jr. (Christy) of Laurinburg, Greg Locklear and Mitchell Locklear each of Hamlet; daughters, Dora Taylor (James) of Gibson, Debra "Kay" Locklear of McColl, SC; brother, Malcolm Locklear of Gibson; sisters, Bonnie Ray Milliken (Tommy) of Laurel Hill, Dora Haynes of Wagram, Bessie Martin (Richard) of Laurinburg; grandchildren, Taylor Goins, Natalie "Nat" Butler, Somer Locklear, Savannah Locklear, Jay Locklear, CJ Locklear, Stephen Williams, Dallas Locklear, Savannah Williams, Kayla Redbrook; great-grandchildren, Jalen Smith and Jeremiah Smith; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Hillside Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 12, at the funeral home.
