Treva Nadjeda Adeline Simmons was the youngest of 6 children born to Cleveland Douglas Simmons and Zella Mae Maddy Simmons on November 29, 1937, in Attica, Iowa. She graduated from Attica High School in 1956 and moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where she worked for Bankers Life, now known as Principal. In Des Moines, she lived at Esther Hall.

Treva Nadeja Adeline Simmons married Ronald Jean Hays on February 14, 1960, in Attica, Iowa. They were blessed with 3 children, Douglas James, Ronalea Nadeja, and Von Ervin.

Treva and her family moved to Marshalltown, Iowa, in August 1974. Ronald and Treva established a vending company, R&T Services, an ice cream shop named Hays' Hut, and a used car dealership, Ron's Auto, a direct result of having collected too many cars and convertibles. All of these entities were under the umbrella of TrevRon Corporation. Treva and Ron moved to Colorado in 2015 to be closer to their youngest grandchildren and enjoy their retirement.

Treva had a great sense of humor, a dedication to her family and a love of reading and crossword puzzles. She was featured in the Marshalltown 1979 Elim Lutheran Cookbook as the sole illustrator. She bestowed many a friend and family member with handmade Swedish Weave blankets to treasure throughout the years amongst being known for her creativity and thoughtful gift-giving.

 Treva Nadeja Adeline Simmons Hays, age 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Orchard Park Healthcare in Centennial, Colorado.

Left to cherish her memory are Treva's 2 children; and her oldest living sibling, Doran, and his wife Bonnie of Sacramento, California. Daughter, Ronalea, and her husband, Brian Alleman, and 2 sons, Caleb and Eli, live in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Son, Von Hays, his wife, Kristin, live in Lewisville, Texas, along with their 2 children, Henry and Eleanor. Treva will be greatly missed and remembered by several extended family members on both her and Ron's sides of the family. Treva was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; their oldest son, Douglas; her parents; and 4 siblings: Sidney Douglas Simmons, Chloe Sigfried Simmons, Vean Sygmund Simmons, and Zella Arvonne Van Hemert.

A family-led memorial service was held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 1:30pm at Arising Methodist Church in Lenox, Iowa. Her ashes were interred next to her husband and son at North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
