Victor L. Kingrey was born May 23, 1966, in Newton, Iowa, the son of Larry Don and Kay Louise (Eygabroad) Kingrey. Growing up in Marshalltown, Iowa, he enjoyed fishing and participating in youth sports like Marshalltown Football League and Little League. After graduating from Marshalltown High School in 1984, he attended Marshalltown Community College and then Buena Vista University, where he obtained at Bachelor's Degree in Information Technologies (IT).
On August 1, 1987, Vic married Jane Maria Mead (b. December 6, 1966) at a Baptist Church on the south side of Marshalltown, Iowa. They had 2 sons: Joshua Victor Kingrey, b. May 26, 1991; and Justin Mead Kingrey, b. September 2, 1993. Jane and Vic divorced in 1999 in California.
Vic's second wife was Lisa, from Canada. They had a daughter, Emily, who died as an infant. Then they adopted a daughter, Madalynn. They divorced. Vic's third wife was Sylvia.
Vic worked for Lennox Industries in Marshalltown, then was transferred to Plano, Texas. Then Vic spent over 20 years in Silicon Valley, California, where he worked in IT for AVST (Applied Voice & Speech Technologies). Later, he relocated to Texas and continued working remotely for the company.
He loved watching sports, especially Iowa State Cyclones football and the San Jose Sharks hockey.
Just recently, Vic moved to Des Moines so that he could be cared for by his sister, Chris. Victor L. "Vic" Kingrey, 57, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024, at UnityPoint Health – Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
He is survived by his children, Joshua and Justin Kingrey of California, and Madalynn Kingrey, of Canada; his siblings, Chris (Scott) Buckley, Tracy (Scott) Baumgartner, Shon Kingrey, and Sarah (Shawn) Babberl; and extended family. Vic was preceded in death by his daughter Emily, in infancy, and his parents, Larry Don Kingrey and Kay Louise Kingrey.
Arrangements were by Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Per the wishes of Vic and his family, Vic was cremated and a private family-led graveside service took place at Riverside Cemetery.
