Kenneth Hartman Conner, Sr., 87, of 513 Jasper Wood Road, Hurt died Friday, October 12, 2018 at his residence. He was the husband of Helen W. Conner for 64 years.

He was born April 16, 1931 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Theo Hampton Conner and Leatha Arthur Conner. He was a member of Motley Baptist Church, the Baptist Association, and a retired supervisor with Appac Asphalt Company. Kenneth was an avid hunter, enjoyed farming, canoeing, camping, and traveling.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Diane Barnes and her husband, Bill of Virginia Beach, and Darlene McCollum and her husband, Dan of Virginia Beach; one sister, Marion E. Scott of Hurt; three grandchildren, Wayne Floyd, Deana Matturro and her husband, Tony, Sadona Schely and her husband, Lynne; four great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth H. Conner, Jr.; a grandson, Kenneth H. Conner, lll; two brothers, Wiley G. Conner and Billy T. Conner; and one sister, Nancey Young.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 15, 2018 at Motley Baptist Church by the Rev. Mitch Ethridge.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at the residence.
