Rietta Lynn Squires, 64, of White Pine, MI, went to be with Jesus on June 21, 2022 while at Wausau Aspirus Hospital.

She was born on July 11, 1957 in Battle Creek, Michigan, daughter of Jay and Oleeta (Slocum) Whitman.

After graduation from Battle Creek Central she graduated from Kellogg Community College and then Western Michigan University Summa Cum Laude, with a Baccalaureate in Psychology.

Rietta enjoyed playing her piano, designing her ornamental gardens, fishing and rock hunting. What was most important to her, especially later in her life, was sharing how to be saved, through faith alone in Jesus Christ on the cross dying for our sins.

Rietta was survived by her husband Paul of 21 years of marriage; her mother Oleeta; her children Dennis Hantz and Jessica Hantz; sister Dawn Cuyler; grandchild Andrew Jay Hantz; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Jay Whitman; brothers Randy Whitman and Lonnie Whitman; and first husband Dennis Hantz.

A service was held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 1:00pm, with visitation from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon, Michigan. The burial took place at the Green Cemetery in Green, Michigan immediately following.

Cane Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
