Emma Christina Ayre immigrated to the U.S. in 1922 with her husband John and daughter Jane Christina, their only child, from Glasgow, Scotland. They originally settled in Elizabeth, Union Co., New Jersey, where Jane married her husband, Thomas Joseph Blyth.

By 1934 the whole family had moved Akron. Emma is listed as a widow in an Akron directory then, and Jane and Thomas are also listed. By 1940, though, Jane and Thomas had moved to Wadsworth and were still there in 1950. All five of their children attended Wadsworth High School. When Emma died in Akron in 1941, they buried her in Woodlawn Cemetery. It is not known whether her husband John died in Ohio or New Jersey.

Daughter Jane died in Florida in 1982, and none of her four children remained in the Wadsworth area.
