"Gideon, Clyde, age 68, of the Old Washington community, Dayton, died at the residence Thursday night after a lingering illness. He was a member of the American Legion Post 100, Dayton, and a retired veteran of the U.S. Navy. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Edna Gideon, two sons, Charles Smith and Clyde Edward Gideon; a daughter, Phyllis Gideon; two grandsons, Dean and Darryl Smith, all of Rt. 1, Dayton; five brothers, Ike and Walter Gideon, Spring City; Major Gideon, Chattanooga; Dewey Gideon, Pikeville, and Lee Gideon, Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Mrs. Nora Allison, Las Vegas, Nev.; Mrs. Rose Green, Paducah, Ky.; several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday from the Washington Baptist Church with the Revs. James Bryum and Clifford Colbaugh. Burial in Montgomery Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Charles Carney, Sam Farmer, Hobart Colbaugh, B. K. Grisham, Earl Garrison, Martin (Rattis) Collins. Honorary pallbearers will be the Veterans of Rhea County Barracks. The body is at the residence in Old Washington, Tenn. Arrangements by Williamson-Garrison Funeral Home, 678 North Market St., Dayton, Tennessee."
