She was born on January 13, 1947 in Rochester, Indiana, the daughter of James Fairly "Junior" Hooks Jr. and Rosalee (Cole) Hooks. On December 19, 1965, Brenda married Gerald A. DePoy and they became the parents of two daughters, Tammy and Melissa. They later divorced. On February 1, 1974, she married Frank L. Harrell Jr. They later divorced.
Brenda had worked for Ristance Products in Argos, Indiana, eventually becoming Standard Motors, retiring in 2011 after thirty -five years. After retirement she became active with the Fulton County Senior Center. She helped answer the phones for Retire Senior Volunteer Program, the Fulton County Chamber of Commerce and volunteered at Woodlawn Hospital. She dedicated herself to helping other seniors by helping them with their household chores, shopping, running errands and driving them to doctors appointments. In 2012, on Valentine's Day, she was recognized as "Queen" by the Fulton County Senior Center. As someone always on the go, she along with her fiancee', Sam Halliburton, enjoyed taking trips and traveling across the country. She had been a member of Faith Outreach Center.
Survivors include her daughters, Tammy (Jack "Bill") Utter, Akron, Indiana, Melissa (DePoy) Artist, Rochester, Indiana, grandchildren, Brandi Utter, Argos, Indiana, Allen Morgan, Plymouth, Indiana, Cody (Shay) Utter, Athens, Indiana, Derrick Morgan, Rochester, Indiana, Jack Utter Jr., Rochester, Indiana, great grandchildren, Bruce, Skilee, Jeff and Sam Utter and Rylee Jonas, nephew, Chris (Kelli) Hooks, Rochester, Indiana, several cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, James Kenneth Hooks, and fiancee', Sam Halliburton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana. Friends may visit from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date at Athens Cemetery, Athens, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton County Animal Adoption and Education Center.
