BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES
(By Gale Boetius Perez, Find a Grave Member 47724849)

Olaf was a distant cousin of mine (my first cousin, three times removed). I found the following information through ancestry research.

Olaf was a child of Alphons Xavier Marius Boëtius (born January 24, 1834 in Copenhagen) and Pauline Bertha Vilhelmine Raspe (born May 1, 1839 in Lübeck, Germany).

Olaf married Elizabeth Inger Petersen in 1894, and they had two daughters: Elisabeth Inger (born about 1894 in Denmark) and Leona Fredericia (born September 26, 1900 in New York; died March 16, 1960 in Ocean Park, Virginia).

Olaf arrived in the United States on February 13, 1894. His wife and first daughter continued to live in Copenhagen at Borgergade 87, 4 (hos Nielsen) and came to the United States at a later date.

In 1900, the family lived in Manhattan and Olaf was employed as an electrician. His wife Elizabeth was a student. Olaf was naturalized August 18, 1904 and served in the U.S. Navy as an electrician and in the rank of Lieutenant.

The family's other New York addresses were: 5 East 116th (from at least 1911 to 1915); 51 West 115th (1916).

From at least 1917-1925 the family lived at 83 West 115th in New York City. In 1917 Dagny Boetius lived at the address as well. Olaf and Elizabeth's daughters were employed by a lawyer (the first daughter's occupation was "clerical" and the second was a stenographer).

Olaf died January 8, 1938, in Kings County.
