WILLIAM HARDING MASHBURN was born to David Mashburn and Sarah Brown. He married Rachel Virginia Johnston. He was an ordained minister in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in 1877 by Washington Presbytery. Although he preached in many churches throughout northwest Arkansas, he began his ministry at Campground Church and ended it there also. During the Civil War he served in the Union's 1st Arkansas Cavalry, enlisting at age 18 in Feb 1864, rising to the rank of corporal.
