Margaret Josephine Crain was born on September 23, 1924, to parents Margaret E. Sims Crain and Newton J. Crain in Louisville, Kentucky. When Josephine was 6 years old her parents divorced and she and her mother moved to her mother's parents' farm in Lometa, TX.


In 1941, Josephine graduated from Lampasas High School and then went on to business school. She soon went to work for the Veterans Administration. She served in the Waco and San Antonio offices and lastly, the Houston office from which she retired

after 40 years in 1984.


On October 17, 1965, Josephine joined St. Paul's Methodist Church. She was a member of the Climbers Sunday School Class and participated in the Coffee Club, a singles Sunday night fellowship that met in the 1960's and 1970's.


She began to volunteer on a regular basis, most notably in the gathering and organizing of the historical records of the church. In 1998 an archives office was established in the sanctuary building in room 309. Josephine also gave tours of the church explaining the architecture, stained glass, and symbols in the Sanctuary.


Josephine moved to Clarewood House in 2015, where she passed away

peacefully on October 19, 2023.


Her Memorial Service was held in the Sanctuary of Saint Paul's Methodist Church on November 11, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. She was inurned in the church columbarium.
