Robert was born to John and Lola Smith. He married Karen Ann Way on March 29, 1968 in Newton, Texas. They lived in Katy since 1988, recently relocating to Brenham, where they have resided for over 3 years. Robert started his television career as a Meteorologist for KTRE in Lufkin and then at Fox 26 News in Houston where he worked from March, 1988 August, 2000. After leaving Fox 26 News, Robert worked four years with News 24 in Houston. Finally, after retiring from television, Robert pursued his and his wife's dream of living a simple life in the country where they built their home with their own hands. While living in Brenham, Robert was a proud employee of McCoy's. As a hobby, he created and administrated several websites such as The Texas Ringer horseshoe website, and Max Brand, a western novel website. He was a member of the Horse Shoe Pitchers Association as well as the American Meteorological Society. Robert's proudest achievement was his family who was always a top priority and came first in life before anything else! He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Karen Smith of Brenham; sons, Michael Smith and wife, Alicia of Tomball, and Christopher Smith and wife, Jessica of Cypress; daughters, Adrian Smith of Houston, Neva Meadows and husband, Scott of The Woodlands, Charolotte Smith of Houston, and Heather Reyes and husband, Josh of Cypress; grandchildren, Tyler, Jasmine, Tanner, Avery, Micah, Karina and Carson; brothers, Johnny Smith and wife, Theresa of Katy, and Lonnie Smith and wife, Carolyn of Lufkin; sisters, Sharon Frazier of Lufkin, and Ruby Motl of Bastrop; as well as many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his firstborn son, Stephen Ty Smith, on August 21, 1989; parents, John and Lola Smith; and brother, Freddy Smith. V
