He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy, a commitment that showcased his unwavering patriotism. Following his honorable discharge, he embarked on a career with the City of Tulsa as a Refuse Driver, where he dedicated over three decades of his life to serving his community. His hard work and dedication made a lasting impact on those he served alongside and the neighborhoods he served.

In matters of the heart, Jimmy found his soulmate in Nellie Abel, and their union was a testament to enduring love. Their companionship was a source of inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to witness the strength of their bond.

Jimmy's interests and passions enriched his life and those around him. An avid outdoorsman, he found solace in fishing and hunting, embracing the beauty of nature. His enthusiasm for football was evident through his avid support for teams such as the OU Sooners, Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He cheered on the Sooner girl's softball team, displaying his unwavering dedication to sports.

Beyond sports, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life, indulging in shopping on QVC and finding great deals, a testament to his thrifty nature.

Jimmy Ray Abel's memory will be carried forward by the many lives he touched with his kindness, warmth, and infectious laughter. He will be dearly missed by family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his loving wife, Nellie Abel; son, Sam Abel; daughter, Belva Fox, daughter, Yvonne Hill; daughter, Janell Heath; daughter, Deborah Suntheimer; his grandchildren, Tim Burns and his wife, Linda, Amanda Meinsch and her husband, Billy, Shawn Roland, William Heath and his wife, Michelle, Derik Heath and his wife Casey, Shawna Basinger, Nicole Yeager and her husband, Zach, Cynthia Williams and her husband, Waylon; his great-grandchildren, Josh Chastain, Jordan, Hardwell, Brett Meinsch, Isabella Meinsch, Linkin Roland, Kaelyn Roland, Jessie Lucero, Cory Lucero, Spencer Lucero, Eden Howle, Lola Yeager, Jagger Yeager, Grace Heath,Henley Heath, Evan Williams, Jett Williams, and numerous other family members and friends.

Visitation will be 5-7 pm, Tuesday, August, 29, 2023 at Floral Haven Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life Service will be 3:00 pm, Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
