Yvette R. Biret graced the earth in Bordeaux, France, and completed her life-long journey in Maumee, Ohio, when she passed away at her home on October 7, 2023. During her transatlantic journey, she worked and studied hard to fulfill one of her greatest passions, which was to become an American citizen on Dec. 4, 1981. She worked at St. Luke's Hospital for more than 20 years where she played an integral role in preparing emergency rooms for the medical staff and their patients. She did similar work at Lake Park Hospital for an additional five years before finally retiring in her 70s. Yvette was born on August 1, 1933, in Bordeaux, and raised in the port city in southwestern France. She came to the United States in the early 1960s with her late husband, Claude Biret, settling in Pontiac, Michigan. While she took great pride in ultimately becoming an American citizen, she never abandoned her place of birth and often returned to France to visit family and friends. After living in Michigan, Yvette relocated to Maumee where she lived the remainder of her life. During her years in Michigan and Ohio, she enjoyed traveling and going to lunch with her friends and co-workers.

She dedicated her other free time to being a well-rounded seamstress and crochet artist as her relatives and friends recalled the numerous impeccable blankets she had designed over the years. Yvette also was an art aficionado particularly since her late son, Eric Biret, was an artist. Yvette was preceded in death by her parents, George and Jeanne Lamerat; her son, Eric Biret; and her sister, Jeannine Campbell. She always remembered her son honoring him through her donations to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Yvette is survived by her brother, Roland Lamerat, who still lives in Bordeaux; and her many nephews and nieces in the United States and France. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital on behalf of Yvette's son or the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of her nephews who have fought for America.
