Born to Archiebald (Archie) Arnold Wood and Lottie Helen Tolle Wood, Ruth began her life in Santa Barbara. She was an only child and graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma Washington.
Howard and Ruth raised their three children in Tacoma and Gig Harbor Washington. Ruth worked for The Peninsula School District as a Teacher Aide and later worked in the front office of Dr. Richard Madison. After retirement, they became snowbirds and traveled throughout the Western United States. Howard and Ruth enjoyed playing guitars and singing together, music was a big part of their lives until their final days together.
